Breast Cancer Awareness Month: 15 Celebrities Who Have Faced A Diagnosis
4:00 PM
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer (following non-melanoma skin cancer) among women in the United States, according to the CDC, and is also the fifth leading cause of death.
Experts agree that early detection is a woman's best hope for
successful treatment, making awareness a concrete and important tool in
the fight against the disease. For more on screening and risk, have a look at the CDC literature.
But how to boost awareness? That's where celebrities can often make the most difference. Last year, we rounded up just a few famous women who have battled breast cancer.
This year, to kick off the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month,
we updated that list with even more inspiring stories from familiar
faces, including some women who were just diagnosed this year. Read here
for their stories.
