You probably know by now how important drinking water is for your overall health. Water has a number of functions in the body including cushioning and lubricating joints, aiding in digestion, regulating temperature and much more. Although the importance of water is obvious, it can sometimes be hard to get the 64 ounces minimum daily. The following are tips to make it easier to consume the large quantity of water required:

TIP ONE: Keep it cool
Most people find it easier to drink water when it is cooler, add ice cubes to your water bottle and keep it refrigerated when possible

TIP TWO: Flavor it up
Water can be boring and let’s face it if you get sick of it you will be less likely to drink enough of it; add lemon or grapefruit slices to it for some natural flavor and if you don’t have access to these foods low calorie flavor packs can work also

TIP THREE: You have to see it
If you choose to carry a water bottle with you, get an opaque bottle so you can see the level of water in it which will help to keep you drinking all day

TIP FOUR: Add it up
Track how much water you are drinking to make sure that you are getting enough water; and remember on hot days, when you are sick or if you are exercising your hydration needs go up
